Biography:

Rene Cutting is a Lead Data Manager at PRA Health Sciences based out of Raleigh, NC. She has a Master’s degree in Animal Health Science and finds pleasure in the outdoors, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.


Title of Session: Workplace Flexibility

Description of Session:

In general, there are three factors that employees and job seekers are looking for in a company; workplace flexibility, a commitment to health and well-being and working with a purpose. The Sloan Work and Family Research Network defines work flexibility as the ability of workers to make choices influencing when, where and for how long they engage in work related tasks. Work place flexibility enables both the individual and business needs to be met through when and where work gets done and how careers are organized. The 2018 Global Talent Trends study found that 51% of employees wish their company offered more flexible work options. No matter the industry, flexibility is incredibly important to employees and job seekers across the nation. Work flexibility has become a part of what employees are looking for as part of their comprehensive employee benefit package. Companies that offer employees flexibility in the form of telecommuting, flexible schedules and unlimited PTO help employees maintain a positive work-life balance. Flexibility has been shown to reduce workplace stress, boost mental well-being and encourage productivity. Some examples of advantages for employees may include convenient flexibility to meet family needs, personal obligations, and life responsibilities; reduced consumption of an employee commuting time and fuel costs; decreased childcare costs; increased personal control over schedules and work environments; the ability to allow employees to work when they feel the freshest and most productive; decrease likelihood of an employee calling out from work due to illness or feeling burned out. In conclusion, work place flexibility has become a popular option in the workplace. It can be used as an incentive to recruit the best employees and seems to be a popular trend amongst both the employee and employer.
